01 Climate Risk & Health Prediction

Zindi challenge: predict whether a recorded death in Uganda was climate-sensitive.

  • Blend of LightGBM, XGBoost, CatBoost and logistic regression over several seeds, scored on 0.6 × F1 + 0.4 × ROC-AUC
  • Found that test locations never appear in training, so validated with StratifiedGroupKFold grouped by location rather than a random split
  • Showed that weather and seasonal enrichments did not help under honest grouped CV, and kept a compact feature set

"What happens if…?" Simulate a decision with thousands of agents before you commit to it.

  • Agent-based Monte Carlo: each trial runs the same population with and without the decision, on the same random stream
  • An LLM turns any question into a world spec that is validated and clamped before it runs, or pick one of five offline worlds
  • Results as P10–P90 bands, the chance of beating doing nothing, and which groups win or lose

An evaluation harness, contributed to the open-source Vitra project, that scores AI agents designing interfaces through MCP tools.

  • Runs each task against an isolated scene and an in-process MCP server, recording every tool call
  • Scores goal checks, a design audit, visual similarity (per-channel SSIM) and tool-call efficiency
